Question: PDF Text Thickness when using AcroPlot Direct Conversion
When I create PDF's in AcroPlot the Text thinkness is coming out thin as shown in the PDF (AcroPlot) but when I create straight from AutoCAD this is not a problem, as shown in PDF. I have also included a copy of the DWG file to help.
The text style is Romans.shx
Solution:
In the Direct Conversion we are doing an shx to True Type text conversion and I thought that we had already increased the text thickness on the True Type fonts we use for it but I will have to check into that.To resolve it we need to force it back to treating the shx fonts as graphics. In AcroPlot use the Setup->Change Setup Options menus and then on the DWF Tab set the "Convert Fonts To Graphics" option to "Convert shx fonts to graphics" DO NOT set it to convert True Type fonts to graphics also, just shx fonts.
Question: AcroPlot not working with the new AutoCAD 2007
We just got the latest version of AutoCAD 2007 now AcroPlot does not work corectly with the new AutoCAD. Is there an issue or posibly an upgrade that needs to be repaird as the product worked great before and now when converting we get errors and the files get saved with a new file name?
Solution:
When you upgrade to a new version of AutoCAD (or even reinstall) you should always uninstall the current version of AcroPlot and download and install the newest version of AcroPlot from our website.
http://www.cadzation.com/downloads.htm
Upgrades are free for users from one year of the purchase date. So far we are not enforcing it but in the near future uses will have to be on a yearly maintenance and support plan to get updates in the future. But for now we have just been to busy to put everything in place so you are free to download the updates. There is no way possible for us to design a program that works for a version of AutoCAD which hasn't been released yet. So if the build date from the AcroPlot->Help->About menu isn't newer than the official release of the version of AutoCAD you are using then it's not going to work. You are going to find this with any 3rd party software for AutoCAD. We typically start porting over a month or so before a release but we don't get the final versions ourselves until a few days before public release.
Question: Converting DWG to Plot (PLT) files-Do I have to purchase AutoCad 2007
Can I use AcroPlot to convert DWG to plot files?
Is Autocad 2007 available from you and what is the cost?
Solution:
Our AcroPlot Pro convets to PDF, DWF, and serveral image files. We do not convert to plot files as there are just too many variations of the formats needed for specific plotters. There is no common plt format, plt is mearly an extension used to specify that the file is in the native language that the printer accepts. Most plt files are HPGL or HPGL/2 but even with these formats their are variations between them for each plotter manufacturerer and even for different plotters for a single manufacturer. So we don't feel that it is a good format to use and instead our users prefer the PDF format. With our AcroPlot or AcroPlot Pro we can convert one of two ways. For AutoCAD 2006 and prior versions we can do a direct conversion so you don't even need AutoCAD. There are a few limitations like we don't support Custom Objects or OLE embedding at this time. For AutoCAD 2007 and prior versions we can drive AutoCAD (not LT) to do the conversion through and hence support anything that AutoCAD supports. The files are typically a bit smaller going through AutoCAD but sometimes our direct convert does make them smaller. No we do not sell AutoCAD 2007. You can visit www.autodesk.com to find you nearest reseller.
Question: True Type Text being clipped off from AutoCAD
I am experiencing a strange problem with Acroplot Pro (we have 25 licenses) and AutoCAD 2006. When plotting some drawings directly to the Acroplot plotter (using a .pc3 file), the preview looks good, but the resulting PDF has shifted some text around. The font that gets shifted is a TTF, but changing the font doesn't seem to affect things. It seems to be a clipping problem of the bounding boxes (windows to create views on a layout). Adobe Acrobat 6 Pro seems to render the fonts fine (though I didn't use any pen-color settings), and the preview looks good as well, just the end product doesn't get it right. In the attached files, notice the text around the object in the lower left corner of the drawing.
Solution:
If you use AcroPlot Pro, AcroPlot, or AcroPlot Jr. and have the option selected to use the Pc3 and Pmp files then this will not happen. Basically we do a bunch of pre and post processing in our programs to get around all of AutoCAD's various bugs. This setting is currently located under the "Setup"->"Use AutoCAD Pc3 and Pmp Files When Printing" and soon will be moved over to the Options Tab by the Lines Merge setting. The reason that Acrobat Professional works is that they do not transfer the True Type fonts as fonts into the PDF. They just create it as graphics. This is a known bug in AutoCAD with True Type Text and plotters that can print closer than 1/8" to the margins. It happens with newer HP Plotters also and Autodesk's recommendation was to use an older printer driver for the HP Plotters. It's been around since AutoCAD 2000 I think and they refuse to fix it for some stupid reason. Even 2007 still has it even though they confirmed it years ago that it was their bug, not ours. What is happening is that AutoCAD is sending out the clipping planes for the text based on the actual margin where all the rest of the data is sent based on the assumed 1/8" margin. So the clipping planes are offset by 1/8" towards the left and the top which usually means that it is clipped off in the lower right corner and may extend beyond the viewport in the top and right sides.
If you want to print directly to the printer driver then you have two choices. You must either set all of the margins in the pmp file to 0 for the sizes you plot to or set the pc3 file to plot True Type Text as graphics. To define all of the margins for any papersize you are going to print to to 0.0 inches in the Pc3 and Pmp file. To do this you first use the AutoCAD "File"->"Plotter Manager" menus. Then select the "Add A Plotter Wizard". When the Wizard comes up you want to add a "System Printer" and then select the PDF-XChange for AcroPlot Pro. Then click next as you don't want to import a PCP or PC2 file. Then you can give it the name that you want for the pc3 file to be displayed in AutoCAD. Then hit the "Edit Plotter Configuration" button and then on the "Device and Document Settings Tab" is where you edit the two settings. ********************************* To Edit the Margins - Better Solution ********************************* You want to click on the "Modify Standard Paper Sizes" button. Here then you need select each size one at a time and set all four margins to 0. It's a bit of a pain though as you need to set all of the margins to 0 and AutoCAD keeps going back to the top of the list after each one you edit. ********************************* To Plot Fonts As Graphics ********************************* Expand out the "Graphics" section and then under it will be a "True Type Text" option. Set this to "True Type As Graphics"
Again we take care of this and a million other things automatically with AcroPlot, Pro, and Jr. There are also going to be some upcoming things that we will be doing through these programs that cannot be done by printing directly to the driver.
Question: MSVCR80.dll unrecoverable error couldn't find library MSVCR80.dll required by MpShHook.dll
We receive the following error message and then AcroPlot closes when performing various functions.Acroplot.exe unrecoverable error couldn't find library MSVCR80.dll required by MpShHook.dll What is the cause of this and how do we resolve it?
Solution:
This problem has been resolved on May 3, 2006 and appears to be caused when Windows Defender Beta 2.0 is installed. So please download and install the new version of AcroPlot from:www.cadzation.com/downloads/acroplotcommonsetup.exe The problem appears to originate when .Net 2.0 components cannot find various support files. We were able to reproduce it by installing Windows Defender Beta 2.0 and once Windows Defender was uninstalled our program then functioned fine. Using the Microsoft Dependency Checker to check the MpShHook.dll file it will show that it cannot find the MSVCR80.dll file either because the Microsoft .Net 2.0 does not install this file in the Windows\System32 directory. This apparently has caused major problems with hundreds of programs as we found plenty of results in the web search on it. With AcroPlot we use a unique technology to bundle the files into a single exe to minimize dll problems and to not have to install multiple controls and files on your system. We were able to modify the program to provide better support for resolving .Net 2.0 dll's that are not located in the Windows\System32 directory and as of May 3rd everything should be working fine.
Question: acroplot\fm30xmf.dll is linked to missing function
I just downloaded and installed the latest version from the web site and after installation and when it wants to reboot the computer, it gives and error...
"executable....acroplot.exe had the following unrecoverable error: library ...acroplot\fm30xmf.dll is linked to missing function ixclib30.dll:isvs_getstdrountinesPtr"
It also gives the same error when I try to run it.
Solution:
This due to an error that occured during the download of the software. Please uninstall AcroPlot, reboot the computer and then re-download and install the software to resolve the issue. http://www.cadzation.com/downloads.htm
Question: "Unable to Get AutoCAD's ActiveX Interface" Error.
I am getting an error "Unable to get AutoCAD's ActiveX Interface" when I try to convert dwg files with AcroPlot through AutoCAD.
Solution:
This usually means that your the AutoCAD ActiveX registry settings are messed up in the Windows Registry.
This can be caused by several things such as: 1.) Uninstalling a newer version of AutoCAD while leaving an older version installed. 2.) Installing or uninstalling multiple different versions of AutoCAD. 3.) Running registry cleaning software (AutoCAD warns against this in the installation readme) 4.) Having multiple versions or flavors of AutoCAD installed on the same machine. This usually works as long as you install them from the oldest to newest and also as long as the user has Power User Rights.
Luckily for the last several versions of AutoCAD they have included a registry repair option on the AutoCAD installation CD. The following webpage will give you detailed instructions on how to run the registry repair.
